Wearing the tilak is an ancient Indian tradition

It’s a common sight in India to see a native Hindu wearing a Tilak on his forehead and going about his daily life. In fact, wearing a tilak is peculiar to only two countries in the world namely India and Nepal because they have the largest Hindu Population. Since ancient times it has been a daily traditional ritual for a Hindu to wear a forehead mark or the Tilak as ancient spiritual masters had devised this system as part of his daily practice. Ancient spiritual masters had devised this system of wearing this mark at the base of the nose where the two eyebrows meet on the center of one’s forehead. The position of this mark is very relevant to the teachings of higher Yoga often referred to as Hatha Yoga. Directly behind this spot is the position of the Pineal Gland inside the brain which is said to be pivotal in the activation of the Agyna Chakra.

There is a unique reason for wearing a Tilak

The human body it is said has Seven Chakras often referred to a the Shata Chakra, where the Agyna Chakra is the penultimate chakra before the Crown Chakra, the final one.  The Agyna Chakra is compared to the Command Centre, the word Agyna means Command or the Permission to go ahead. Lord Krishna is depicted in all religious scriptures who wore a Tilak on his forehead denoting his being an Avtar of God Vishnu, the Preserver. It is from this historical Past that this white-colored Tilak is called Guru Tilak and is a white-colored dry lump that can be used to create the Tilak. All one had to do was rub the white bar on a stone platter with a little water which would result in a light paste that can be used to create a Tilak on the forehead.
